How to use the planner
It takes about a minute. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you ask us to email the plan.
- Pick your officeChoose your HQ city, or your own time zone if it isn’t listed.
- Set the hours that need coverYour team’s working day, or just the window when you need someone live.
- Pick a dateClocks change on different dates around the world, so check summer and winter.
- Read the barsGrey is your day, light green is theirs, blue is the time you share. The top 3 are ranked for you.
Where each hiring country sits on the clock
Overlap depends on two things: the gap between your clock and theirs, and whether either side changes clocks during the year. A one-hour clock change can turn a full shared day into a partial one, so check a summer date and a winter date before you set a schedule.

Making partial overlap work
You don’t always need a full shared day. Many remote teams run well on a few core hours plus clear handoffs. If you’re weighing nearer and farther countries, our guide to nearshore vs offshore hiring and our tips on managing remote international teams go deeper.

“Before we shortlist anyone, we ask which hours really need someone online: calls, customer chats, the daily check-in. It’s often a few core hours rather than the whole day, and that opens up more countries than most clients expect. When a role does need the full day, we say so up front and only put forward people who are happy to work it.”

Time-zone overlap: common questions
How does the planner handle daylight saving time?
It reads the official time-zone database built into your browser (the IANA database, via the Intl API) for the exact date you pick. The US, Canada (except British Columbia from November 2026), the UK, the EU, Poland, Romania, Ukraine and Egypt change clocks; Mexico (most of the country), Colombia, Argentina, Brazil and the Philippines don’t. Morocco has stayed on GMT (UTC+0) all year since 20 September 2026, and the planner applies that rule even if your browser’s time-zone data is older.
How many hours of overlap do I need with a remote hire?
It depends on the role. Sales, support and assistant roles that handle live calls or customer chats usually need to work your business hours, either because the country lines up or because the hire works a shifted schedule. Roles that work on tasks, like bookkeeping or video editing, often only need a short daily window for questions and handoffs. Decide which hours really need someone online, then set your hours in the planner to that window.
Which countries share the most hours with US Eastern time?
Colombia is on UTC−5 all year, so it matches New York in winter and is one hour behind in summer. Mexico City is one hour behind New York in winter and two in summer. Buenos Aires and São Paulo are two hours ahead in winter and one in summer. Pick your date in the planner to see the exact hours.
Which countries work best for UK and European companies?
Morocco (UTC+0) is on the same time as London in winter and one hour behind during British Summer Time. Poland is one hour ahead of London and Romania, Ukraine and Egypt are two hours ahead, all year. For companies in Paris or Berlin, Morocco is one hour behind in winter and two in summer.
Can a hire in the Philippines cover US business hours?
Yes, if the role is set up as a shifted schedule. Set the hire’s hours to an evening or night shift in the planner (for example 22:00–06:00) to see the overlap. Talentige places admin, customer support and sales roles in the Philippines, but not developers or IT.
Does Morocco still change its clocks for Ramadan?
No. Decree No. 2.26.530 moved Morocco back to GMT (UTC+0) on 20 September 2026 and repealed the 2018 rule that kept UTC+1 most of the year with a switch back to GMT during Ramadan. Morocco now uses UTC+0 all year. Moroccan hires can work any time between 6 AM and 9 PM EST.
